MIAMI STREET PRESS: LOVE LIVES HERE POSTCARDS

LOVE LIVES HERE POSTCARDS operates through a relational aesthetics framework in which the artwork emerges through social exchange rather than a fixed object. Part of Miami Street Press, a mobile printmaking project, takes artmaking into community spaces where people gather—art clubs, afterschool programs, multipurpose community hubs and artist-led nonprofit spaces. Using simple printmaking tools, the project invites participants to gather, reflect, and create together through shared acts of making, conversation, and care. Supported by The Ellies – Oolite Arts Awards, each activation centers the theme Love Lives Here, exploring love in families, friendships, and communities.

Participants move through a series of creative stations—writing reflections, printing backgrounds and symbols, and selecting word plates—to create postcards that can travel out into the world or remain as part of a growing community archive. Meaning is generated in the encounter itself, as temporary communities form through the acts of making, sharing, and witnessing one another.

Miami Street Press launched its first activation in December 2025 and continues with pop-ups in Homestead, Perrine, Hollywood, and Hialeah in the winter and spring of 2026.

The Perrine Community House is an ideal location for Miami Street Press because it has served as a gathering place for community connection, learning, and civic engagement since the 1930s. Its history as a WPA-built public resource dedicated to community use aligns closely with Miami Street Press’s mission of bringing accessible, participatory printmaking into spaces where people come together to share ideas, stories, and experiences.
