Forbidden Pages, Still at Risk

$150.00

This vibrant limited-edition letterpress and pressure print belongs to the Forbidden Pages Collection—an ongoing series that responds to the alarming wave of book censorship in Florida schools, where over 2,500 titles have been banned or challenged.

Layered in bold type and textured color fields, the print pays tribute to All Boys Aren’t Blue, a powerful young adult "memoir-manifesto" by George M. Johnson. The text "ALL BOYS AREN’T BLUE" is printed in striking magenta over a textured blue-and-white background, partially intersected by vertical yellow bars. These shapes evoke both the caution of warning signs and the possibility of illumination.

At the center of the composition, layered type in deep brown reads:
“…the world STILL isn’t SAFE and ACCEPTING PLACE for TRANS PEOPLE,”
—an urgent message derived from the book’s core themes of vulnerability, visibility, and resistance.

Published in 2020, Johnson’s collection of personal essays charts their journey growing up as a queer Black person in Plainfield, New Jersey, and Virginia, offering solidarity to young readers navigating similar paths. In a climate of rising censorship, All Boys Aren’t Blue has been among the most targeted books—ranking third in the ALA’s list of most banned books in 2021 and second in 2022. The work has been removed from schools and libraries in at least ten states.
